As part of “Save Our butterflies week” there is an event planned on Baildon Moor  Sat 18th May 2013 to look for the Green Hairstreak Butterfly which shelters in the extraction pits on Acrehow hill & the north side of the hill below High Plain. Meet Upper car park, Bingley Rd from 2PM onwards.

  1. I saw a pair at Moorside on May 6th, which is also outside of the usual area, but does provide the desirable combination of bilberry and dead bracken. I posted an observation and image here: http://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3032989

I’m hoping to come along on the 18th but the weather forecast is for solid rain, which is not great butterfly spotting weather.

  2. I cannot make the butterfly event but have seen Green Hairstreaks in the small area of heather just next to the scout camp. I know this is not far from the area mentioned but thought you might like to know. Obviously, not seen last year!!!
